Koei Tecmo’s 2007 real-time strategy game Bladestorm: The Hundred Years’ War is getting rebooted for Xbox One, adding a fantastical ‘Nightmare’ campaign to the original's straighter faced middle ages battling. The game is basically the Hundred Years’ War played in fast forward. Leaning on the button mashing combat style of Koei Tecmo wunderkind Dynasty Warriors, the original received mixed reviews for its repetitive and often meaningless battles with little player input, but the inclusion of interesting RPG-style elements like levelling up and spending points on new abilities balanced it back out again. Here, you’re a mercenary who can choose to fight on the side of England or France. Swords out!
